The Aralia Black Plant, biologically known as Plerandra elegantissima (and previously classified as Dizygotheca elegantissima or Schefflera elegantissima), is a striking evergreen tropical shrub native to New Caledonia. Famously referred to as the False Aralia, spider aralia, or threadleaf aralia, this plant is deeply admired by interior decorators for its dramatic, narrow, dark coppery-green to near-black saw-toothed foliage.
